Greetings -

Wednesday is shaping up to be a very important day for our campus and the Environmental Studies program and I URGE you all to please, please be a part of it. Our honored guest for the day is Dr. Anthony Cortese, the co-founder of the President's Climate Commitment. He'll give a talk at 7:30 PM in Geneva.

But the fun really begins at noon - in front of Saga, when President Gearan, Dr. Cortese, and the President's Climate Task Force launch a bunch of new initiatives, including: a campus bike program (wait until you see them!), smashing incandescent light bulbs (Smash the Past!) in exchange for a new CFL bulb (so bring your bulbs!!!!!), and our new recycling initiative. I ask each of you to try to personally ramp up your recycling - you can now put it all in one bin (cans, bottles, paper, newspaper, cardboard, junk mail, metal, plastic bottles, empty Starbuck cups). Each time you recycle, less energy will be generated and the planet will breath a little easier...

There will also be green (local) food in Saga and other surprises, such as a new campus website highlighting our GREEN INITIATIVES.

I want to thank all of the students who have been involved in the various green initiatives. I truly believe we'll change this place...one student at a time.

Please, please...get involved and show your true colors. Now is the time. Oh yea, and wearing green on Wednesday is strongly encouraged!!!!!
